Carlos' love of Zumba® came from an "I dare you to do a class" comment made to me back in 2016. From that moment on, like most of you, he was hooked! He felt like he had found my community, my passion, and he immediately wanted to begin teaching it so he could share his joy of dance and fitness with everyone. On his Birthday in 2017, I became a licensed instructor by Cheryl Wu-Hall.
Carlos' road to becoming a ZJ™ was fueled by the amazing Choreo Jammer, and friend, Court Ackerman. He still remembers the day in 2018 when he decided to go further in my Zumba® career like it was yesterday - it was during Pro Skills with Guillermo Melendez and Court. It is there when he realized that he loved not just the technical side of choreography, but the education one as well. It was a long process, but after years of learning, practicing, and applying, he was honored to be accepted as a Choreo ZJ™ by Beto Perez, founder of Zumba®, in March of 2021.
Besides the usuals like Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Reggaeton - he loves new and interesting fusions, sounds, beats, and rhythms that add that "something different" to our Zumba® classes - especially hard-hitting beats that just make the body want to move. A few rhythms you can expect from him are Moomhahton, Soca, Bhangra, Afrobeat, Desi Hip-Hop, and K-Pop to name a few. Because of this you can say that he has a very eclectic taste when it comes to music which guarantees classes feel distinct and unique, making students want to come back for more. One last thing, he likes to get swexy!
